Glammas Recording has begun!

The Kitchen Recording House is buzzing with melody as The Glamma Rays record their debut album. We're in day 4 and it's going well. It's all recorded live so as to capture the joyous vibe. Bort Bokorock (aka Tim Roger Oxley) is at the mixing desk, and is still able to magically whip up a 5 star meal every night!

Artists in Residence

We have been invited to be Artists in Residence at he University of Wollongong. We will be leading a group of third year music students through the process of writing and arranging songs, to be recorded and mixed for a class compilation album. Working with ProTools, we will help the students create something they are truly proud of. At the end of the semester, there will be an album launch, plus guidence through the process of independent online distribution. We are very excited!

Tim and I wish you all the very best for 2012. We have a good feeling about it. We have lots of exciting plans and we're happy to have moved to a new studio/residence in a gorgeous old mansion. Very condusive to making atmospheric and colourful tunes. If you're a singer/songwriter looking for somewhere to record your next album, get in touch, we'd love to meet you. Kuradji-Bugeena

Day 1 of the Kuradgi Bugeena Festival was amazing, rich in culture, community and spirit. The music was inspiring. Alotta Pressure were brilliant! Powerful speaches from Dootch Kennedy, the Kuradgi custodian and great performances by the Little Narguns Dance Group.
We're all getting ready for day 2 and really looking forward to it.

We had such a good time time at The Oxford Art Factory the other night. Thanks to everyone who came along. We are so glad to be playing our songs again and seeing all those familiar faces. Kuradgi Bugeena Family Weekend

We welcome you all to participate in the annual Kuradgi Festival at McCauleys Beach, Sandon Point. Our local elder Dootch and the mob are hosting an all weekend party starting at 10am on Saturday the 17th December and finishing on Sunday the 18th at 8pm. As always it will be a spiritually uplifting event with lots of great music, traditional ceremonies and wonderful community spirit. Come and learn about the rich indigenous heritage of the area and help to keep the fire burning. Acts confirmed so far are Roger Loves Betty (acoustic), Carrie Phillis and the Downtown 3, Richard Green, The Glamma Rays, Michael Caine, Robert I Corowa with Lois Burdett, The Leisure Coasters, Alotta Pressure, Al Japaljari and lots more! The Glamma Rays plus the music of Jessie Mae!

We have a very special evening for you this Saturday the 5th Nov at the Woonona School of Arts(1 hour south of Sydney). The Glamma's Malika or Love Ray as we call her, has created a stage play celebrating the songwriting acheivements of her great aunt Jessie Mae Robinson. Los Angeles based Jessie Mae wrote dozens of world wide hits in the 50's for artists such as Pattie Page, Elvis Presley, Willie Nelson, the list goes on...people are still covering her songs. The Beatles and The Go-Gos even did versions of 'Let's Have a Party'. Malika wants Jessie Mae remembered and acknowledged and we're gonna help her! There will be a run-through of the play, followed by a Glamma Rays set. Soul food will be for sale at the show. Please click here for tickets and info.

The Glamma Rays play with The Killjoys

It's going to be a great night at The Petersham Bowling Club on Friday the 28th of October for The Killjoys album launch! We are really looking forward to playing Sydney's inner west again, with The Bernie Hayes Quartet up first, then The Glammas, then The Killjoys will play songs from their new album plus the old crowd favourites. The Glamma Rays at Scarborough Art Show Fundraiser

The Glams will be performing at 1pm at Scarborough Public School. It's a gorgeous school on a clifftop overlooking the ocean. There is also a celebrated art show where you can buy work by local south coast artists. There will be stalls, rides and entertainment all weekend. Check here for more info

Tahlia (Too Many Too Soon)

Our friend, David Field came over one day with a song he had written for his dear mate Kelton Pell. Kelton had recently lost his teenage daughter to suicide and Dave was moved to write this sad and beautiful song. Tim and Dave sat down and worked on the arrangement for the song and then recorded it. Tim played all other instrumentation on the song and Jodi sang the vocals. A huge advertising campaign to help raise awareness of youth suicide in Australia came together over the following months. Well, what an amazing weekend we had! Brisbane, Melbourne and Adelaide were all brilliant shows. Seeing all those familiar faces and talking to people afterwards was so much fun. The Wonderstuff and Jesus Jones band members were all really lovely. Trish, Raph, Dave and I had some very funny moments, keys were lost, flights were cancelled, venues had mysteriously moved to a new suburb, but we laughed in the face of adversity and went on stage each night and rocked! We have some more shows booked, The Oxford Arts Factory in Sydney of Fr Nov 18th, The Fly by Night in Fremantle on Fri Dec 2nd and The Gov in Adelaide on Sun Dec 4th. Rage played our beautiful, lovingly home-made road movie film clip for 'Follow My Heart' last week but it was in the middle of the night. You can help us get it back on Rage at a time when people are awake by clicking here and requesting our song. We know you wanna!
The clip was made by our dear frind Simon Luckhurst, writer, philosopher, poet, dreamer. He filmed the four of us heading up to The El Rocco room for our first ever Sydney show many months ago.

Clouds shows getting close

I am so excited to be playing with The Clouds again after 14 years. This Sunday the 14th of August will be our warm up show as The Louds, at The Brass Monkey in Cronulla. Also on the bill will be my very good friends, Mount Glorious, who I can't wait to see and Steve Cullen, a local singer/songwriter. We're all looking forward to seeing familiar faces in the audience. Tickets are very close to being sold out so if you want to come, please give the venue a call real soon. Trish and I have been designing tea towels and fridge magnets which we will have on sale. If that goes well, we may open up a homewares shop! Anything is possible. Our rehearsals were a lot of fun and the spark that fired us was still there. The shows with Jesus Jones and The Wonderstuff kick off next week in Brisbane at the Tivoli on the 18th, The Palace in Melbourne on the 19th and the Enmore in Sydney on the 20th. Hope to see you there!

We went ahead and printed up Pinkin Winkin Wolly Woo, the book by Jodi Phillis and Suzie Higgie of The Falling Joys. It's great for children of all ages with beautiful full colour illustrations by Jodi. We now have them available from our Mail Order page.
